A good chunk of my readers are male... with our without pictures.
I know a few men that write really good erotica, perhaps even better.

Next time you scan the romance novel section at your book store, rest assured that more men write romance than women... pen names are so decieving.
I have had a couple of romance authors tell me that my style of writing is OMG porn.
So no, I don't think it's a gender difference... its a preferential difference...
Some enjoy it so much, they anticipate the next chapter.. others could care less and would rather see nasty pictures of women spread wide open with pearl necklace ordained drippy and sticky around their necks...
That doesn't do it for me. I prefer imagination... that way I can make the story my own.
